Cabinets are built up of massive aluminium ribs

  Aluminum has very good properties as a material for loudspeaker cabinets like stiffness, hardness, rigidity and high mass density (compared to MDF wood). Unfortunately these properties lead to negligible inner damping so that normally built cabinets ( squared side-walls,..) ring like a bell when they are excited by drive-units screwed to them. Therefore long time it was very critical to use it.

By applying the concept of rib construction like we show in our Berlina series we can totally eliminate this big disadvantage. In the RC (Rib Construction)-concept massive 40 mm high ribs are stacked one over the other with high damping fibrematerial ribs between them thus creating an acoustically perfect cabinet which shows no resonances or any other influences on the reproduced music.

Symmetrical frequency crossovers of ultra-high slope (> 60 dB/Octave)

  Every multi-way loudspeaker need a frequency crossover to direct the correct frequencies to their drive-unit.  Unfortunately crossovers have a finite slope (e.g. 6 dB/Octave) so that there is a big crosstalk between the drive-units. This leads to coloration, loss of information (phase) and bad transient response.

With our very steep crossover filters this overlap problem is solved totally. Additionally as the single drive-units get only their frequencies the power capability is much higher and you cannot destroy midrange or tweeters in our loudspeakler systems.

Choosing only best components

  Creating such elaborate crossovers only makes sense when also using perfect crossover components and connectors. To ensure best performance we only use crossover components from Mundorf and IT and binding posts from WBT.   GAUDER AKUSTIK WBT  

 

Aluminum, ceramic and diamond drive-units

  Music is not consisting of long-lasting sine tones but of single, high-dynamic transients. Therefore it makes perfect sense to take care of the impuls response of a loudspeaker. It even seems that impulse response is more important than a perfect frequency response. So only light, stiff and rigid diaphragms made of aluminium, ceramic or diamond can ensure this.

Many people think hard materials sound hard. This is completely wrong. Diaphragms made out of these materials can lossless follow the music impulses and therefore they do not create artificial signals like soft materials do. They just have hard resonances out of the passband so you need to use very steep filters to cut off these resonances like we do with our 60-dB-filters!
